About Knowledge Grove Foundation

A community-rooted nonprofit committed to literacy, representation, and possibility in the Central Valley.

Rooted in Community. Built for Children.

Knowledge Grove Foundation is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Stanislaus County, California. We were founded with a single, clear conviction: that every child, regardless of zip code or background, deserves access to books that see them, programming that includes them, and adults who believe in them.

We exist at the intersection of literacy and representation, bringing books, workshops, and community reading experiences to families who have historically been underserved by mainstream publishing and education.

We are new. We are intentional. And we are building something that lasts.

We are not just putting books in children's hands. We are telling them their stories are worth telling, their futures are worth imagining, and their communities are worth investing in.

Our Core Values

📖

Representation

Children thrive when they see themselves in the books they read. We center stories that reflect the full humanity of Black and brown children.

🌿

Community

Literacy is not a solo act. We build programming that brings families, schools, and neighborhoods together around the shared power of reading.

🌟

Possibility

We believe deeply in the potential of every child we serve. Our work is grounded in the conviction that imagination, cultivated early, changes lives.

Sheressa Jackson, Founder

Sheressa Jackson

I am a children's book author, literacy advocate, publisher, and the founder of both Knowledge Grove Foundation and Grove Learning Group LLC. I have spent my career believing that the right book, in the right hands, at the right moment, can fundamentally change what a child believes is possible for themselves.

I am also completing a law degree, and I homeschooled my two sons. That experience shaped everything I understand about how children learn and how much environment, access, and investment matter.

Knowledge Grove Foundation is the mission arm of a larger ecosystem I am building to serve communities like mine. It is where the work becomes a gift rather than a transaction, where we show up in schools, libraries, and living rooms not to sell anything but to plant something.

I started this foundation because I needed it to exist. And because the children in this valley deserve it.

Transparent by Design

Knowledge Grove Foundation received official federal recognition as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization in January 2026. We are in our founding year, actively building our programming, our partnerships, and our community presence in Stanislaus County.

We believe in honest communication with our donors and community partners. We are new, and that means every dollar you invest goes directly into building something that has not existed here before.
